Ann E. Marino, of Rockford, passed away at home on Friday, October 10, 2025, after proudly celebrating her 100th birthday this past July. She was born to Charles and Frances (Mirto) Marchese here in Rockford, IL, but moved to Brooklyn, NY, as an infant. She spent the next 21 years there until she came to a wedding in Rockford, where she met Carl Marino. It was love at first sight. Two weeks later, she moved back to Rockford; 8 months later, she married Carl Marino and spent 54 happy years until he passed away suddenly during heart surgery on March 22, 2002.
Ann retired from Rockford Clinic as a medical secretary in 1990. She was a charter member at St. Bernadette Church, where she and Carl volunteered for many years. What she loved most was spending time with her family and friends. She loved making everyone’s favorite food and treats. Italian traditions were very important to her, and she tried to instill that in her family.
Survivors include her sons, Sal (Sue) and Chuck (Jenny); grandchildren, Jake (Tara) Marino, Nicholas (Raechel) Marino, Amy (Jake) Searles, Elizabeth (Colin) Hertel; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Gianna, Valentina, Victoria, Brooks, Brody, Henry; sister-in-law, Frances. She is predeceased by her husband, Carl; parents, Charles and Frances; baby Carla Ann; sister, Lillian; brother, Charles; sister-in-law, Margaret; brothers-in-law, Anthony Minardi, Rowan Amerine; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
