Obituary published on Legacy.com by Riverdale-On-Hudson Funeral Home Inc on May 28, 2024.
Ann (Lewitus) Rousso, age 90, of Riverdale, NY, died peacefully in her home on May 27, 2024.
Ann was born on December 22, 1933 in Washington Heights to Richard and Harriet Lewitus. She attended Hunter College High School and the City University of New York. She met Sam at the neighborhood candy store, and they married in 1954. Their love lasted 62 years until he passed away in 2016. They shared a love of comedy, show tunes and above all their family.
Ann stayed home to raise her children in their formative years, while volunteering and taking a leadership role as President of the PTA. When her children were older she completed a Masters in Education from New York University. She was a paraprofessional in the New York public school system, and became a devoted and tireless caregiver to her aging parents and in-laws.
Ann is remembered by friends and family as a kind, loving, warm and welcoming woman who was renowned for her matzah ball soup. To her, no one was a stranger and everyone had a place at her table.
Ann is survived by her beloved daughters Vicki Kobliner and Regina Wilmes, the sons of her heart, Joe Wilmes, Sal DeStefano, and Mark Kobliner, grandchildren and grandchildren-in-law Gabe, Ariel, Hallie, Matthew, Darien and Josh, and great-grandson Leonardo. She will be missed.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 29 at 10:30am, Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Queens NY. Shiva will follow the service until 5PM and then from 7-9 PM on Wednesday.
Her favorite charities were Smile Train and Heifer International.
