Ann Steinbach Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory - Downtown Suffolk on Sep. 4, 2025.
Ann Clark Steinbach, 81, of Suffolk, Virginia, passed away peacefully on September 3, 2025. Born to the late Letcher Clyde and Lois Turner Clark, Ann lived a life rich in creativity, devotion, and adventure.

Ann was educated as a registered nurse at Medical College of Virginia (MCV).

A master needleworker and professional designer in the needle arts, Ann shared her talents through her business, Ann's Cottage of Needlework, which she owned and operated for eleven years. Her artistry touched many lives-she created countless quilts for friends, family, and charitable causes, each one stitched with love and care.

Ann was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church in Suffolk, where she found spiritual fulfillment and a sense of community. She was also deeply committed to preserving history and heritage, actively participating in the Jamestown Society, the Bridger Family Association, and the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

She was a loving and devoted Grammy and Mimi, cherishing every moment spent with her grandchildren. Ann is survived by her husband of 60 years, Roger K. Steinbach; two daughters, Karen Eades (Bert) and Julie Blake (Rob); and seven grandchildren: Madison, Cabell, Davis, and Abby (Karen's children), and Branche, Carter, and Roger (Julie's children). Her legacy of love, creativity, and strength lives on in each of them.

Ann found joy in gardening and flowers, often spending peaceful hours tending to her blooms. She was also an avid traveler, having explored 49 of the 50 U.S. states and many countries around the world-always curious, always embracing new experiences.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Benns United Methodist Church (14571 Benn's Church Blvd., Smithfield, VA 23430) beginning at 2:00 PM, followed by a reception to celebrate Ann's life.

Roger, so sorry to hear about Ann's passing. Y'all have always been one of our favorite cousins to reunite with since our meeting you for the first time in Wyoming. Ann was always so sweet and I enjoyed her stories of y'all traveling with you chauffeuring.
Prayers for you and your family.
