Stendardo, Ann (née O'Dwyer), age 83

Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on August 24, 2025.

Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, Ann joyfully helped her family run the town's newspaper stands. At 18, she left Dublin for England, where she worked at Boland's Bakery. It was there that she met her husband of 47 years, Umberto Stendardo, who preceded her in death. After they married, they found their way to Chicago and settled in Rogers Park where they raised their family in Saint Ignatius' parish.

Ann was the cherished mother of Patrick, Giancarlo, Marco, Tina (Jim Carli), Sally (Billy Braico), and Rosetta (Brendan Murphy). She was the proud and devoted "Ma" to her grandchildren-Paddy, Catherine, Aidan, Giuliana, and Ella-many of whom she lovingly helped to raise. Her faithful golden doodle and constant companion, Chloe, brought her immeasurable joy.

Ann will be remembered for her fierce Irish spirit, her honesty, and her unwavering loyalty. She had a gift for storytelling that kept her heritage alive, and her family will always treasure the way she spoke the truth with both strength and love. Above all, Ann's greatest legacy was the sacrifices she and Umberto made to give their children and grandchildren beautiful lives filled with love and opportunity.

She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished.

Services will be private.
