Ann Dubuisson Sturgill

March 21, 1937 - December 15, 2024

Lexington, Kentucky - Ann Dubuisson Sturgill, widow of the late Don S. Sturgill, died on Sunday, December 15, 2024, in Lexington, KY. She was born in Opelousas, LA, on March 21, 1937, daughter of the late Judge John Francis Dubuisson and the late Elisabeth Platt Dubuisson Gilmer. After the death of her father, Ann's mother married the late William C. Gilmer, of Shreveport, LA, and Ann and her mother and sisters, moved to Shreveport. She graduated from Byrd High School in Shreveport. Ann attended Sophie Newcomb College of Tulane University, the Sorbonne in Paris, and graduated from the University of Colorado and the University of Kentucky College of Law. Prior to her marriage to Don S. Sturgill on December 12, 1966, in Shreveport, LA, Ann lived and worked in San Francisco, Houston, and New York City. Ann was a retired attorney, having practiced law for many years as a partner with the firm of Sturgill, Turner, Barker & Moloney, PLLC, in Lexington, KY. She was a member of the Keeneland Club and a former member of the Idle Hour Country Club, the Iroquois Hunt Club, and Junior League of Lexington. She was an active member of First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Lexington, and the Colonial Dames of America - Kentucky Division. Her parents; stepfather; husband; and sister, Olive Reily Dubuisson Martin, of Lexington predeceased her. Ann is survived by her sister, Rosemary Dubuisson Porter, of Cambridge, MA; two nieces, Elisabeth Martin (Peter) Perino, of New Orleans and Virginia Porter (Dave) Primmer, of Brisbane, CA; four nephews, Thomas J. Martin III, Thomas C. Sturgill Jr., and Chadwick Cabell (Missy) Sturgill, all of Lexington, and Edward (Melody) Porter, of Los Angeles, CA.; five great-nieces, Katherine Sturgill, Hannah Sturgill, and Caroline Sturgill, of Lexington, and Madeleine Perino and Adele Perino, of New Orleans; and two great-nephews, Carter Primmer and Oliver Primmer, of Brisbane, CA.

The Visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m., Friday, December 20th, at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home on Harrodsburg Road. The funeral service is for immediate family only. Burial is private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to God's Pantry.
