Ann Tolerico Obituary

Ann M. Tolerico, RN., 69, Carbondale, PA, died Saturday, July 16, 2022 at Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, PA, after a lengthy illness.
Born March 13, 1953 in Carbondale, PA, she was the daughter of the late John and Anastasia "Stasia" Newcomb Gallas.
Ann was a 1971 graduate of St. Rose High School, Carbondale, and graduated first in her class at Luzerne County Community College with a degree in nursing. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed for many years as a registered nurse at Marian Community Hospital, Carbondale. Ann enjoyed traveling, especially trips to the beach and visiting light houses. Her greatest pride and joy in life were her grandchildren.
She is survived by one son: Benjamin Tolerico and wife, Nicole of Elmhurst Township, PA; two grandchildren: Bianca and Angelo Tolerico; one sister: Mary Theresa Garbera and companion, John Waycie of Milford, PA; one brother: John Gallas and wife, Laurie of Carbondale, PA; one niece: Kim Garbera; one nephew: John R. Gallas and wife, Jean; and her former husband: Stephen Tolerico of Tucson, AZ.
She was also preceded in death by her nephew and godson: Keith Garbera; and a brother-in-law: Michael Garbera.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church Street, Carbondale, PA, concelebrated by Rev. Brian J.T. Clarke, pastor of Christ the King Parish, Archbald, PA, and Msgr. David Tressler, pastor, of St. Ignatius Parish, Kingston, PA.
Friends called Saturday, July 23, 2022 from 8:30 - 10:00 a.m. at the church.
