David J. Russo, 56, of Carbondale Township, PA, died Sunday, March 15, 2026 at home.
Born June 15, 1969 in Carbondale, PA, he was the son of the late Frank and Sally Eidinger Russo.
David had previously worked at Gentex in Simpson, PA, and Jerry’s Sportswear in Forest City, PA, for many years before it closed. David also worked as maintenance and lawn care for area summer camps.
David was an avid outdoorsman with an infectious love of fishing and hunting that he spread throughout his family. He enjoyed checking in at the Whites Crossing Sports Shop with lifelong friends, Tom and Jonathan. Here they would exchange stories of the last big buck or fish.
He is survived by one sister: Sandy Russo of Carbondale Township, PA; one brother: Tony Russo and wife, Christine of Carbondale, PA; two nephews: Anthony Russo II (David’s godson) and wife, Kori, and Andrew Russo; two great-nieces: Maddy Pisko and Skylar Russo; a great-nephew: Tony Russo III; two aunts: Millie Ignatovich and Cecelia Eidinger; one uncle: Joseph Fobes; and many cousins.
The family is grateful to the emergency responders from the Cottage Hose Ambulance Company and the Whites Crossing Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company for their timely response and assistance.
A funeral service was held Thursday, March 19, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. from the Carmine J. & Louis C. Parise Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., 89 Farview Street, Carbondale, PA. Interment, Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Greenfield Township, PA.
Pallbearers: Anthony Russo II., Andrew Russo, Nathan Lapka, Cory Lapka, Kyle Delamarter, Jonathan Gorel, Stanley Jurkowski, Steve Dietrich Joseph Fobes, Jr., and Gary Whitelavich.
A viewing was held Wednesday, March 18, 2026 from 4-7 p.m.
