Catherine Ann Williams Gregory Trachsel
October 16, 1948 - September 4, 2025

After living with Parkinson's disease for many years, Catherine Ann Williams Gregory Trachsel was called home to be with the Lord on the night of Thursday, September 4, 2025. With her daughter, Monica, daughter-in-law, Tiffany, and friend, Ivy, by her side, Ann died peacefully on the memory care unit at Our Lady of the Valley in Roanoke, Virginia, where she had spent the past few years. Ann was born in Richmond, Virginia on October 16, 1948, to Asa Thomas Williams, Sr. and Georgia Anderson Riddle Williams. She had three sisters: Danease Arrington, Barbara Phillips, and Birdie Floyd and one brother: Asa Thomas "AT" Williams, Jr. Ann married Wayne Lee Gregory on January 25, 1974, and together they had one child, Monica, who Ann loved fiercely. Ann and Wayne shared a life together in Chesterfield, until his death on October 8, 2003. Ann later married Thomas "Tom" A. Trachsel on October 25, 2008, and they shared a life together in Virginia Beach. Through this marriage, Ann gained two wonderful bonus daughters, Brenda Jones and Debra Edwards. Ann was a loving mother, wife, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed cooking meals but also eating at restaurants. She loved Elvis, and she enjoyed listening to music. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, Tom. She loved to read and look at magazines, and she would hold "story time" for staff and residents when she attended adult daycare. She loved being a mom to her daughter, Monica. She had a sense of humor, and a contagious laugh. Ann had a very strong work ethic, and she retired from the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles in Richmond, where she had worked for many years. Ann is preceded in death by her father, Asa Thomas Williams, Sr.; her mother, Georgia Anderson Riddle Williams; her first husband, Wayne Lee Gregory, and her brother, AT Williams. Ann is survived by her husband of 17 years, Tom Trachsel; daughter, Monica (wife, Tiffany); bonus daughter, Brenda Jones; bonus daughter, Debra Edwards; sister, Danease Arrington (husband, Tracy); sister, Barbara Phillips (late husband, Robert); sister, Birdie Floyd (husband, Ralph); and one niece and several nephews. Thank you for the many wonderful memories that you have gifted your family with, as those memories will be cherished dearly until we see you again!

The family would like to give special thanks to the many staff on the memory care unit at Our Lady of the Valley in Roanoke, Virginia, who took such great care of Ann during the past few years, especially Antonio, who loved and cared for Ann, and who she had a special bond with. Also, special thanks to Life Enrichment Coordinator, Karen W., who always went above and beyond, and spent time with Ann. We would also like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice who provided care and support to Ann and our family during the past 18 months.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Sunset Memorial Park located at 2901 W Hundred Road, Chester, VA 23831. Flowers may be sent to the office at Sunset Memorial Park, in the name of Ann Trachsel.
