Ann Laverne Eustice Whetstone, 76, of Soddy Daisy, Tennessee, departed this life peacefully on April 3, 2024, at her daughter and son-in-law’s residence in Benton, where she was being cared for.
Ann was born on May 4, 1947, in Soddy Daisy to the late John Monroe Eustice and Iva Trantham Eustice.
Throughout her life, Ann traveled the country with her late husband for his work before they settled back down in her hometown where she learned to the play the piano and took mandolin lessons in her spare time. She was the best and slowest cook ever, may not eat until midnight but it was worth the wait! Ann always had to be dressed to the nines and have her hair and makeup perfect, as her health declined, she was better known as “The Housecoat Mafia”. Ann was an animal lover, she once said she wouldn’t take anything for her dog Suzie Q (aka FatFat) but would have to get her calculator out to figure out what she would take for family members.
In addition to her parents, John and Iva Eustice, she was preceded in death by her husband Eldon Phillip Whetstone and eight siblings.
Left to cherish the many memories include her loving children, Mark Edward Shuler, Kimberly Kaye Whetstone, Eldon Phillip Whetstone, Jr., and Amy (Joey) Whetstone Lafreniere; cherished grandchildren, Josh (Tabi) Shuler and Ansleigh Bostick; great-grandchildren, Addison Doster, Shyan Burchard and Mia Shuler and one sister, Peggy Jewel Crittenden. Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends also survive. FatFat can’t be left out as a survivor and is now on a long overdue diet.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on her first birthday in heaven at her daughter’s home in Benton, TN.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
