Ann WRIGHT Obituary

WRIGHT, Ann C. Age 82, born and raised in Dorchester, long time resident of Braintree and most recently of Cumberland, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully, on March 10, 2026.

Ann was born to James and Ethel Higgins in Boston, MA. She was predeceased by her brothers, James and Stephen Higgins. She attended St. Gregory's High School in Dorchester, MA and found a successful career at the Boston Globe for over 25 years. Hired as a temporary keypunch operator during the Blizzard of '78, she worked in various departments and roles including management during her longtime tenure there. After retiring, she maintained close friendships with her coworkers and bowling league teammates.

Ann was an independent and caring woman who made friends wherever she went. She filled her days gardening, knitting, and reading. Ann was active and enjoyed walking daily with her longtime neighbor, Susan Cullen. She was very involved with the Braintree Senior Center and most recently made a lasting impact with the residents and staff at the Chapel Hill Senior Living community.

Ann was the loving mother of John Wright and his wife, Ellen of Braintree, MA, Cheryl Peters and her husband, Michael of North Attleboro, MA, James (Jamie) Wright and his wife, Kelly of Fairfield, CT and Christina (Tina) Spera Wright and her husband, Benjamin of Mansfield, MA. She was the devoted grandmother of Sean, Emily, and Caroline Peters, Jay Wright, Laurel and Bethany Spera and JR and Colin Wright. She was the longtime fiancée of the late James Feeney. She was also cherished by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Ann will be missed by her lifelong friends Beverly Heeney and Dolly and David LeBrun.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the Visiting Hours on Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 9:30-10:30 AM, at St. John's Church, Quincy, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Boston Globe Foundation, c/o Globe Santa, P.O. Box 491, Medford, MA, 02155 or the Braintree Senior Center.
