Parker-Price & Davidson Cremations, Funerals, ReceptionsAnna Maye (Streeter) Berndt passed peacefully at KU Medical Center on March 23, 2026 after a stroke. She was born September 3, 1941 in Fort Scott, Kansas. She was the daughter of Raymond & Cecile Streeter.
She attended St Marys Catholic School in Fort Scott then her family moved to Lawrence, KS where she graduated from Lawrence High School 1959.
She worked as a car hop for A&W in Lawrence. She was a machine card folder for Hallmark Cards. She then worked for a dentist, Dr. Boyce.
She was an avid Kansas City Chiefs, Royals and KU fan. She loved watching sports and cheering on her favorite teams. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren.
She married Leroy “Nick” Berndt on September 1, 1960 in Lawrence, Kansas. She worked for her husband who was a CPA and continued bookkeeping for local Mexican Restaurants after his passing in 2005.
She is survived by her four children Michael (Michele) Berndt Pagosa Springs, CO, Linda (Greg) Laird Topeka, KS, Richard Berndt Greenville, SC and William (Jodi) Berndt Silver Lake, KS, 10 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, her brother Raymond Streeter Fort Scott, KS, her sister Ruthie Hatfield Lawrence, KS, brother-in-law, Dan Berndt of Colorado, and several beloved nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Betty Steenbock, her grandson Elijah Berndt.
A memorial visitation will be held at Parker-Price and Davidson 245 NW Independence Topeka Blvd on (date) 2026 on Saturday April 18, 2026 from 4-6 pm. A private burial will be at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice or Aldersgate Village, Topeka or the donor’s choice.
The family would like to express their genuine appreciation for the excellent care provided by Kansas City Hospice and KU Medical Center. Also our appreciation to the staff and residents at Aldersgate who made Anna feel loved and at home.
