Anna Wheeler Horton Black, born on October 20, 1928, in Sandy Hook, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, in Dayton, Ohio, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and creativity that will be cherished by her family and all who knew her.

Anna was known for her gentle spirit and unwavering dedication to family. She attended school in Sandy Hook, KY, where she undoubtedly developed the warmth and compassion that characterized her life. Throughout her journey, she embraced her faith and attended the Oakdale United Brethren and the Beavercreek Church of the Nazarene, where she found community and strength.

Together with her beloved husband, Bert, Anna worked tirelessly to design and build over a dozen contemporary houses, helping to shape the skyline of Beavercreek. Their marriage was a testament to their love and commitment, as they not only dreamed together but also brought those dreams to fruition, touching the lives of many in the community.

Anna's family was her pride and joy, and she is survived by her children, Jerry (Roseanne) Black and Gregory (Deborah) Black, who carry forward her legacy of love and support. Her grandchildren—Brian Black, Alisa (Rob) Stringer, Brandon (Crystal) Black, Carissa (Terry) Barga, Kristin (Mark) Artrip, Jared (Carrie) Black, Brennan (Melanie) Black, and Jenna (Tyler) Joseph—each hold cherished memories of time spent with their grandmother, who offered them guidance, encouragement, and unconditional love.

She was also blessed with a beautiful lineage of great-grandchildren, including Jordan (Kurdt) Long, Nathan Kraft, Samuel Stringer, Jace Black, Elizabeth (Jonathan) Mathis, Jack (Aliyah) Barga, Elijah Barga, Ezra Barga, Malachi Artrip, Canaan Artrip, Mercy Artrip, Zion Artrip, Presley Black, Jax Black, Blakely Black, Rosie Joseph, Junie Joseph, and Tommy Joseph. Great-great-grand children includes Arielle Bushra and Luna Mathis. Each of them carries a piece of Anna’s spirit within them, a reminder of the love she bestowed upon her family.

Anna’s life was also shaped by the love of her many nieces and nephews, including her brother John Horton, who shared in her joys and supported her through life's challenges.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bert, her parents Roy Wheeler Horton and Beulah Belle (Mayse) Horton, sisters Gladys and Lea, as well as her grandchild Jordan Black and great-grandchild Blair Black. Their memories will remain entwined with Anna’s, as a reflection of the deep connections she fostered throughout her life.

As we come to terms with the loss of this remarkable woman, we find solace in the profound impact she had on all of us. Anna’s visitation will take place on December 30, 2025, from 10:00 AM until the service at 11:00 AM at Newcomer Funeral Home, 3380 Dayton-Xenia Rd., Beavercreek.

In celebrating Anna Wheeler Horton Black’s life, we remember not just the roles she played but the love she shared freely and the memories she created with her family. She will be forever missed, but her legacy of kindness, creativity, and devotion will continue to inspire all those she touched.
