Anna Brown Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Williams-Parksley Funeral Home on Dec. 17, 2025.
Anna L. Brown, 94, wife of the late Charles D. Brown, formerly of Bloxom, VA, died peacefully at her daughter's home in Eastville, VA, on December 8, 2025.

Born March 11, 1931, in Cheriton, VA, Anna was the daughter of the late William Seth Lovell and Anna Ruby Kochersperger Lovell. She spent her early years in Eastville before settling in Bloxom, where she made her home for most of her adult life.

Anna met the love of her life, Charles Brown, and they were married on November 4, 1949. Together, they raised three children, instilling in them the values of kindness, respect, and hard work. Anna worked for many years at a local grocery store, where she took great pride in caring for her customers and providing exceptional service. She was known for her warm smile and genuine concern for others.

In her free time, Anna enjoyed being outdoors, fishing and hunting whenever she had the chance. She loved playing Bingo at local fire departments, crocheting beautiful blankets for her family, and spending quiet evenings reading or watching her favorite show, Perry Mason.

Above all else, Anna cherished her role as a mother and grandmother. Family was the center of her world, and her love for them was unwavering. She will be deeply missed by all who were blessed to know her.

Anna is survived by children, Winola Bernardine Short and her husband, John Short, of Bloxom, VA, Annette M. Brown of Eastville, VA, and Charlene K. Pettit and her husband, Tony Pettit, of Princess Anne, MD; grandchildren, Carrianne Prouty, Charles Thomas Short (Brittany), Samantha Green (Jamie) , Erika Valverde (Lenny), Jessie Rasmussen (Danny), and Alisha Biddle (Josh); great-grandchildren, Marlaina De Los Santos, Jose De Los Santos Jr, Miguel De Los Santos, Matthew Green, Lucas Green, Dominick Prouty, Ian Prouty, Alexis Prouty, Kaylee Short, Tristan Short, Brooke Chivers, Blake Chivers, Dalton Chivers, Naudia Valverde, Savana Farmer, Anilya Shockley, Haily Dowdney, Jerry "Jay" Kellam Jr., and Bonnie Sue Kellam; eight great great-grandchildren; special niece, Ann Riner of Austin, TX; special nephew, Dave Lovell and his wife, Tracy, of Melfa, VA; several other nieces and nephews; and many extended family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Dickens Brown; brothers, Edward Lovell and George H. Lovell (Harry); and a great-grandson, Juan Carlos Valverde.
