Our beloved mother, Anna (Bik Jin) Chiu, passed away in the early morning of May 24th, 2024 at the age of 84. She was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor her legacy by living their lives to the fullest. Birds were chirping at the early dawn, and the delicate sounds of birds will remind us of her gentle spirit.
Anna was born in the city of Hoiping (Kaiping) in the Guangdong Province of China on January 4, 1940 to Kai-Sui and Guan Fudi Chan. She was a pillar of strength and perseverance to her family and friends. She was also a devoted sister to Bizhu, Bixiu, Jiankai, Junshao, Shelly, Chun Siu, Lai, Tai, Bik, Tony, and Oi Chan.Anna married James (Kin Ching) Chiu on March 3,1966 in Hong Kong. In 1969, with the love and support of Aunt Betty & Uncle Jimmy Wong, the couple immigrated to the U.S. and settled in Chicago. Anna and James were valued members of the Bridgeport neighborhood and owned the Golden Dragon Restaurant, serving delicious Cantonese food to members of the community for several decades. Together, they, worked tirelessly to support their children; Edward, William, Mabel, and Mie Mie. Anna adored traveling and spending time with her four grandchildren Kaila, Kalyssa, Katelyn, and Ethan. She had the most joyous time playing cards with them.
Our dear mother is now reunited with her husband, and we are comforted in knowing that they are both at peace. She is survived by the family members mentioned above along with many other beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins.
