On Wednesday evening, August 27, 2025, Anna Jean Jessen Daniels-Dillon passed away peacefully, returning to her Heavenly Father after a long and fulfilling life. Her gentle spirit and loving influence will be deeply missed but always remembered.

Jean, born August 5, 1936, grew up in the small town of Glenwood, Utah, where she learned the value of hard work at an early age, helping neighbors by mopping floors and washing windows. As a teenager, she worked at Parson's Bakery in Richfield, where her lifelong love of pastries-especially bear claws-surely began.

In 1954, Jean married Paul Daniels, and together they began their family in Annabella before later moving to Cedar City. Paul worked at the College of Southern Utah (now Southern Utah University) first as a bookkeeper and later as personal director, while Jean cared for their home and children. Determined to prepare herself to provide if needed, Jean pursued higher education and earned a degree in Elementary Education. She went on to teach in St. George, Beryl, and eventually at East Elementary in Cedar City, where she spent 28 years teaching third grade. Teaching was one of her great joys, and she often shared stories about her students with fondness.

After Paul's passing, Jean married Jack Dillon. The two became wonderful companions and enjoyed traveling the world together-taking cruises, visiting new countries, and even reeling in a massive marlin on one of their adventures, a memory she loved to recount.

Jean enjoyed activities that reflected her quiet, steady spirit: reading, gardening, crocheting, embroidery, and long walks. She especially loved sharing her handiwork. Over the past two years, she cross-stitched more than 18 pairs of pillowcases, gifting them to children, grandchildren, sisters, nieces, and friends.

Her life was guided by a deep love for the Savior. She quietly served those around her, showing kindness and compassion to family, friends, and all who knew her.

Jean was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Daniels and Alvin "Jack" Dillon; her parents, Joseph Ellis Jessen and Melba Cropper; and her brother, Dallin Jessen. She is survived by her children Paula Mitchell (Tom) and Randy Daniels (Eileen), six grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Mary Myers, Gae Hintze, Myrle Workman (Sam), and Tina Curtis.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 400 North and 500 West, Cedar City, Utah. Jean requested no formal viewing, but a family and friends' gathering will be held at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. Jean was a favorite Relief Society Sister in the 8th Ward. She had a fun sense of humor as we worked on baby quilts and activities. She also served on the Endeaver newspaper board for the Ward and finished many baby quilts with her talented hand work. You will miss her but we all know the Plan and hope to enjoy the eternities. much love !

Mrs. Daniels was my third grade teacher at East Elementary in about 1988. She was such a classy lady and dressed so beautifully. I remember her kindness and the stern but very sweet way she taught me and my classmates. She read The BFG aloud to us, and truly helped me to love reading. I also admired the rather large supply of Tab diet soda she kept in her office! Looking back, Mrs. Daniels is one of the teachers that served as inspiration for me to enter the same field. I´ve been teaching for over twenty years now, and will continue to carry her memory with me.
