Obituary published on Legacy.com by C. J. Lucas Funeral Home, Inc - Mount Carmel on Oct. 16, 2025.
Anna Marie (Galinis) DiFrancesco, 91, of Royersford, and formerly of Mt. Carmel, passed away October 12, 2025, surrounded by her family. Born August 10, 1934, to the late Joseph and Emily (Kubeldzius) Galinis, in her family home on Walnut Street in Mt. Carmel, she was the sixth of eight 'Galinis Girls'. She attended the McKinley School, Holy Cross School, and was a 1952 graduate of Mt. Carmel Joint High School – the first class following the Borough/Township jointure. Two of her new classmates, Ron and Joe, would later become brothers-in-law.
Following graduation, Anna moved with friends to Harrisburg, working initially as a Bell Telephone operator, then at the Naval Ships Parts Control Center in Mechanicsburg, rising to become the youngest civilian supervisor on the base, and playing softball on the 'Navyettes' softball team.
On May 9, 1959, at Holy Cross Church in Mt. Carmel, with Msgr. Stanley Dobinis presiding, she married Anthony 'Bronx' DiFrancesco, who preceded her in death in October 2001. She moved back to Mt. Carmel to start their family, and they eventually acquired her family home on Walnut St. and raised their family where she and her family, as well as her father and his family, were raised.
She returned to work at Cardwell Industries, Mt. Carmel, then later worked part-time at Grayson's Olde Butcher Shop before retiring. She was involved with her husband at the local Moose, K of C, and Atlas Fire Company clubs, and she and Bronx were quite the jitterbug dancers in their day. She was an officer in the Parent-Teacher Organization at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional High School, supporting the numerous activities of her children, and hardly missed OLOL football, or girls' basketball and softball games. Though she often commented on being a baseball coach's widow during the season, she appreciated the involvement of her husband in coaching little league, supported the young athletes and their families, and she and Bronx enjoyed seeing their successes as they moved on in sports and in their lives.
Following retirement, she spent time with her family and grandchildren, seeing her granddaughters in countless recitals, shows, and games, and enjoyed seeing their accomplishments. She became involved in activities at Divine Redeemer Church, including the Council for Catholic Women and Catholic Daughters, as well as with the Paulinarians, Knights of Lithuania, and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed time with her Mt. Carmel friends over the years, going to see shows locally and on trips to New York, and enjoying activities, dinners, and evenings out with them. After her husband's passing, she began to travel a bit with her daughter and sisters, taking trips to Hawaii, Alaska, California, the Holy Land, Egypt, and twice to Italy -- for the canonization of St. Pauline Visintainer, and later for the wedding of her nephew.
Anna enjoyed time with her family, her Galinis sisters and their families, and with the extended DiFrancesco family. She looked forward to OBX beach trips with her family, and she enjoyed cooking and hosting family functions and holidays, even when the events and holidays moved to her children's homes. She was a devout Roman Catholic, raised in the Lithuanian Holy Cross Church in Mt. Carmel, then following marriage, was a member of the former St. Peter Church, later Divine Redeemer Church. She prayed the Rosary regularly. She spent the last few years of her life living with her daughter, Carole, in Royersford, appreciating the special care she received there.
She is survived by her children and their families: Tony and Jeanne DiFrancesco, Chester Springs; Lisa and Dan Booth, Lost Creek WV; and Carole DiFrancesco, Royersford; her granddaughters Shelby LeVett and husband Mitchell, Emma DiFrancesco, and Corinne DiFrancesco; her sisters Agnes Thomas and Helen Lattanzio, in-laws Jean Stellar, Joe DiFrancesco, and Ben and Denise DiFrancesco, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their spouses and families.
In addition to her husband, Anna was predeceased by sisters, brothers, and sisters- and brothers-in-law Magdalen and Ben Heil, Emily and Albert 'Lucky' Lokitis, Albert Galinis, Genevieve and Joe Procopio, Dorothy and Bill Pinamonti, Joseph Galinis (Infant), Mary and Tom Dudzinski, Ron Thomas and Dick Lattanzio, as well as Min and Russ Federico, Lena and Marty Wynne, Middy and Carmella DiFrancesco, Mary Jean and Bernie Stellar, Dora DiFrancesco, Joan DiFrancesco, Julie and Bob Pittello, Dick and Rose DiFrancesco, John Stellar, Nancy DiFrancesco and several nieces and nephews.
The family offers special thanks to all who supported Mom over the years following her husband's passing, including Diane Gidaro Santelli; her forever friends, Dot Hook and Dora Powers; and other neighbors, relatives, friends, and caregivers.
