Anna M. Fowler, a beloved matriarch and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024, in her Choctawhatchee Bay home in Freeport, Florida at the age of 93. Anna was born December 7, 1931, raised in Bronx, NY, married in November 1956 and moved to Brick, NJ, to raise their six children with her husband. In June 1987, she and her husband, Gene, moved to Freeport. Anna lived a life marked by kindness, strength, and devotion to her family.
Anna was predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Eugene R., in April 2022, and her dear son-in-law, Joseph McCormack, in January 2020. She is survived by her children who were her pride and joy: Theresa McCormack, Jean Bisson (Bradford), James Fowler, Daniel Fowler (Mary Ann), Robert Fowler (Lisa), and William Fowler (Heidi). Anna's legacy lives on in her twenty-two grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren, whose lives she enriched with her love, humor, and sage advice.
Anna's life was a testament to resilience, grace, and generosity. Her warm spirit and caring nature made her a treasured presence in her family and community. Her deep faith and spirituality made her a treasure for several decades as a communicant of St. Rita Parish, Santa Rosa Beach, FL. She enjoyed being active in her church as Eucharistic minister, linen washer, altar preparer and many a Lenten fish fry. Anna was an original member of the sewing group at Saint Rita Catholic Church. During her many years of serving with this group, their products included: quilts for parishioners whom were ill, knitted hats and blankets for premature babies, baby quilts for new mothers in need, knitted and crocheted scarves and slippers for Saint Joseph's Indian school in South Dakota, and quilts to Camp Sunshine in Maine for critically-ill children. For a time, she served as president of the Ladies Sodality. She volunteered as patient transporter at Sacred Heart Hospital until she was no longer able; her impact will be felt for generations to come.
Anna will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her ability to bring laughter into any room, and her insight and wisdom that guided her family and friends through life's challenges. She had a remarkable ability to find joy in small moments and to share such joy with others.
A memorial service to celebrate Anna's life will be held at St. Rita Church on January 24, 2025 at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests you spend such funds creating a family experience bringing you close together, a tribute to Anna's enduring belief in the importance of family bonds.
