In 1968, Anna answered the call to serve, joining the Army Nurse Corps. Deployed to Vietnam as a 1st Lieutenant, she met the love of her life, Augustine "Gus" Garcia. Married in the midst of the Vietnam War they began their marriage of 56 years.
As a military family, Anna and Gus traveled the world. From Texas, New Mexico, Argentina, Virginia and Venezuela she made a home for her family. In 1985, they settled in Columbus, Georgia, which became their permanent home. She practiced nursing as a business owner, working for the State of Georgia and as a private duty nurse. Nursing was an extension of her dedication to caring for others.
She is survived by her husband, Augustine "Gus" Garcia; her five children, Chris, Greg, Kateryna, Gabriel and Jono; and nine cherished grandchildren. She leaves behind a legacy of service, courage, and unwavering love. Anna was a woman of profound strength and friendship. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
