Ann Lou Gibson, age 92, of Dalhart passed away Wednesday February 26, 2025 at her home with her daughter Lori by her side.
Born October 9, 1932, in Gray, Oklahoma to the late Rebecca Claybrook and Frank William Davenport, Sr. Ann was a dedicated homemaker all of her life - she had a zest for taking care of her family and their home. She was not just any housewife, though, Ann was a proud Navy wife who held steadfast in her responsibilities of ensuring her husband Robert's uniforms were always in pristine condition by careful cleaning and ironing. The care Ann took in laundering Robert's uniforms showed her respect and honor for not only Robert, but the country they both loved.
Ann loved cooking, cleaning, and supporting Lori and Robert in any way they needed. In Ann's free time she enjoyed doing yard work; she carefully tended the plants and flowers, kept the lawn mowed and looking tidy, also, she was even known to manhandle a saw or two - to make sure any shrubs or trees were pruned meticulously. Ann especially adored her yard when she and her family were stationed and living in Florida - this is where her love of yardwork truly took on the title of being a passion. Her passion for keeping her yard in mint condition helped Ann cultivate her tough yet compassionate soul. Ann was described as a blessing by her daughter Lori, because when she was diagnosed with cancer Ann stepped up to the plate to take care of Lori. Ann never left Lori's side - she committed herself to being not only the caregiver, but the foundation of strength, willpower, and most importantly unconditional love that helped Lori win her battle.
Ann's life was a living example of the virtues she held dear-loving, selfless, and handy. She was a woman who could fix a leaky faucet as effortlessly as she could mend a broken spirit. Her hands, though weathered from years of hard work, were always extended in kindness and love.
Ann is survived by her loving daughter Lori King, and out of ten siblings; two brothers and one sister are remaining to mourn her loss. In addition to her parents, Ann is preceded in death by two brothers: Jim Davenport and Frank W. Davenport, Jr.; one sister: Lora Sue Lucas; and her late husbands: Robert V. King, and Bill Gibson.
A Memorial Mass honoring Ann's life will be held at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Dalhart at a later date. Ann will be laid to rest at Memorial Park at a later date.
