Anna J. (Marcantonio) Goss

HUDSON FALLS - Anna J. (Marcantonio) Goss passed away peacefully at the Home of the Good Shepherd in Saratoga Springs on November 25, 2025 at the age of 96, surrounded by her loving family.

Anna was born in the Bronx on July 28, 1929, to Saverio and Rose (Sacco) Marcantonio of five children.

After graduating from Walton High School in the Bronx, she attended Mount Vernon School of Nursing and graduated first in her class. She met Frank Goss while attending NYU and the couple married in 1957.

After having eight children, the family moved from Long Island to Hudson Falls. In 1971, Anna began working at the Fort Hudson Nursing Home and was named Director of Nursing.

Anna's strong work ethic and devotion to family were etched into Anna's daily life, which she achieved gracefully. Anna taught by example, living the beliefs which she held firm; to be charitable, to put others' needs before your own, to forgive and forget, and to be thankful.

Though a city girl at heart, Anna braved "camping" with the family and even took up skiing, all to be a good sport and to create memories of a lifetime with her family.

At 55, Anna returned to college, earned her bachelor's degree and became a certified Nursing Home Administrator. She later joined the leadership team of Geneva General Hospital and became Vice President of Long-term Care. Anna was a pioneer in the long-term care field and opened one of the first Adult Day Care Programs and Dementia Units in New York state.

Anna retired from Geneva General at the age of 65 and became a Surveyor for the Joint Commission. She remained with the Joint Commission for the next 20 years, retiring at the age of 85.

Upon retirement, Anna remained active spending as much time as possible with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

Anna is predeceased by her husband, Frank X. Goss and her siblings. She is survived by her eight children, Eileen Goss Whelley, (Don), James Goss, Peggy Limmer, (Hal), Myles Goss, (Peggy Greenwood), Mary Cardinale, (Billy Rochefort), Kathleen Goss Dybala, (Bob), Sheila Goss Duerr, (Michael) and Kevin Goss, as well as her grandchildren, Natalie and Stevie Whelley, Ambrose and Emile (Katie) Goss, Elizabeth Arrow (Seth), Kaitlin Limmer, Becky McGrouty (Pat), Jennifer Rand, (Ryan) Dan Goss, Jordan (Matt Campbell) and Kevin Cardinale, Olivia Cefalu, Ned and Charlie Dybala and Lily Duerr; and her great-grandchildren, Ben, Amelia and Eloise McGrouty, Ainsley, Braydon and Georgia Rand, Leni and Rowan Campbell and Hudson and Cooper Arrow.

The family is grateful to and would like to thank the entire staff at the Home of Good Shepherd in Saratoga Springs for the loving care and support they gave our mom for the past two and a half years.

Friends may call from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Street in Hudson Falls.

Funeral services will be at 11:30 am on Monday, December 8, 2025 at St. Mary's/St. Paul's Church, on the park, in Hudson Falls, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Rite of Committal will follow at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville.
