Anna L. Greenmun

GREENMUN, Anna Louise Mary Dries - 93, entered into eternal rest on January 2nd, 2026, at her home in Phoenix, Arizona with family members present. Born in Wayland, New York, August 29, 1932, she attended schools in Canisteo and Arkport, graduating from Alfred Agricultural and Technical College in 1952 with an A.A.S. degree in Clinical Laboratory Technology. After graduation, she accepted a position in the laboratory of St. James Mercy Hospital, Hornell, New York. Anna married high school classmate Gilbert V. Greenmun on May 16, 1953, while he was serving in the US Navy. The family moved to Ithaca, N.Y in 1964, and Anna worked in the Plant Pathology Laboratories at Cornell University as a research scientist under a grant from the National Institutes of Health. In November 1969, the family moved to Phoenix with their six children, where Gilbert continued working for IBM Corp. until his retirement. Both Anna and Gilbert worked untiringly with other parents and educators to establish and incorporate (in 1973) a sheltered employment facility for developmentally disabled young adults, continuing their service until 1989. Anna was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, her brother Gerald, and her daughter Stephanie Greenmun.
She is survived by her children, Michelle Dear, Kymberly (Enrique) Vega, Jeffrey (Deborah) Greenmun, Maria Rochelle and Yvonne (Richard) Brunk; 22 grandchildren; 70+ great-grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren three sisters, Deloris Sherwood of Horseheads NY, Frances Pallesen, Horrseheads, NY and Lois Frederick, Sun City, AZ, several nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews, cousinss.
Visiting hours are between 4:00pm to 7:00 pm on Sunday, Jan. 11th, with a rosary at 6pm. Requiem Mass will be at 10:00am on Monday, Jan. 12th at Mater Misericordiae Mission, 1537 W. Monroe St., Phoenix, AZ. Interment will be at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery on 99th Ave. and Thomas Road in Avondale at 1:30pm. A reception will follow after the burial from 2:30-7pm at the clubhouse located at 11275 N 99th ave, Peoria, AZ 85345.
