Anna Hernandez Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Reade & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. - Fresno on Feb. 3, 2026.
Anna "Annie" Hernandez

October 6, 1932 – January 16, 2026

Anna Hernandez, lovingly known to most as Annie (and to some as Anita), passed away peacefully on January 16, 2026, at the age of 93. She was the heart of our family, the steady presence we could always count on, and the quiet strength behind generations of love. Her life was one of deep faith, joyful service, and boundless love, a legacy that will continue through all who were blessed to know her.

Annie was born on October 6, 1932, in Clovis, California, to Angelina Espinoza and Juan Borges. She was lovingly raised by her grandmother, Antonia Espinoza, affectionately known as Nina Tonia, whose influence helped shape Annie's gracious, faith-filled life.

At the age of 16, Annie married the love of her life, Frank Hernandez, beginning a beautiful partnership rooted in faith, devotion, and joy. Together they raised five children: Carlos Hernandez, Henry Hernandez, Andy Hernandez, Susan Hernandez, and their eldest grandson, Gabriel Hernandez, whom they lovingly adopted at the age of seven. Family was the center of Annie's world, and her legacy lives on through 11 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Annie was the embodiment of grace; confident, thoughtful, beautiful, warm, and welcoming. She had open arms for everyone and an accepting heart that made all feel seen and loved. She was empathetic, kind, gentle, and always willing to listen and offer wise counsel. A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and matriarch, she lived her life as a true servant of the Lord.

Her faith guided her daily life. Annie was an active parishioner of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where she served faithfully as a Eucharistic Minister, and was a dedicated member of the Altar Society a Guadalupana. In her later years, she also belonged to a ladies prayer group, women whose faith and devotion were profound. Their prayers reached far beyond their circle, and if you were part of Annie's life, you were undoubtedly lifted up in prayer.

Her service extended beyond the church as well, she worked for 20 years with Madison Elementary School in the Central Unified School District as an instructional aide in the Special Education Department, where her patience and compassion touched countless lives.

Annie shared a deep love of travel and adventure with her husband Frank. Together, they journeyed to the Holy Land, Mexico, Rome, and Israel, always eager to experience the world side by side. They never missed an opportunity to attend family reunions, weddings, birthdays, and celebrations, traveling near and far to stay connected with extended family.

Above all, Annie loved dancing with her husband. Dancing was their joy, their language, and their favorite way to be together. Whether slow or lively, any music would do, as long as they were dancing together.

Annie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Hernandez, who passed seven years before her. Those who loved them take comfort in believing they are now reunited dancing together in heaven.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Frank Borjas and Virginia Garcia, and is survived by her brother, Bobby Borjas, along with numerous godchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family who will forever cherish her memory.

Annie's presence was a blessing, her love a constant, and her faith a guiding light. While she will be deeply missed, the beauty of her life lives on in every heart she touched and every prayer she offered. We will carry her with us always. We love you, Gigi.

Please join us as we gather in remembrance and celebrate the beautiful, joy-filled life of Annie Hernandez.
