MELISSA DIAZ Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Reade & Sons Funeral Home, Inc. - Fresno on Jan. 22, 2026.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Melissa Diaz, 48 of Fresno,

California on January 16, 2026.

A Mother, a Grandma, a Daughter, a Sister, a Tia, and much more to many, she was so

loved and is already so missed.

Melissa was such a light in the lives of those who knew her. Her laugh was infectious,

and she would do anything to put a smile on your face.

Her final days were spent surrounded by family, with many tears, but also laughter as

her humor carried until the end. Her thoughts were not centered on her own fears but

rather focused on those she would leave behind, making sure that we knew she loved

us, and that we promised to take care of one another. She was a fighter, but she was

tired and had made her peace as she prepared to begin her journey home. She will be

remembered most for her carefree spirit and the unconditional love she gave so freely

to her family and friends.

Melissa is preceded in death by many loved ones who now have welcomed her into

Heaven. She is survived by her only son, whom she loved fiercely, James Nunez Jr.;

grandson, Elijah Nunez; Mother, Irene Garza-Valenzuela; Father and Stepmother, Aurelio and

Louisa Diaz; Sisters, Rachel Acosta and Andrea Diaz; Stepbrother Nathanial Torres.

Along with her niece Brianna and nephews, Jose, Marcus and Xzavier, who will all miss

their Tia Missy dearly.

Our family would like to thank the staff and volunteers of Hinds Lifecare, formerly Hinds

Hospice, who were so helpful and comforting during this difficult time.
