Anna Mae Hick (Friedrichs), 96, of Rocky Hill, CT, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2025. Anna Mae grew up and lived most of her life in Rocky Hill where she raised 3 daughters with her late husband of 66 years, Ralph E. Hick. She was the only child of Tonjes and Anna Friedrichs. She graduated from Wethersfield High School in 1946 and UConn in 1950 with a degree in Physical Education. She taught physical education for several years in East Hampton and Manchester until she began working at the family business, Pioneer Lithographers, as well as substitute teaching for the Rocky Hill school system. She is survived by her loving daughters, Elizabeth Matthews and husband Kevin, Laurel Alexander and husband Gary, and Marjie Sheathelm and husband Kurt. She also leaves six cherished grandchildren, Dan Matthews and wife Brenda Clavette, Katie (Matthews) Newton and husband Ricky, Eric and Trevor Alexander, Russell Sheathelm and wife Brianna Long, and Tia Sheathelm, as well as her two beloved great grandsons Mason and Kai Newton. She also leaves her endeared sister-in-law Cynthia Johnson and her late husband Carl and nieces Cindy McLaughlin and Carol Ellis, as well as many cousins. She was an active member of the Rocky Hill United Methodist Church where she had many life-long friends, and was a past member of the Rocky Hill Historical Society. She enjoyed playing bridge with long-time friends, crocheting for family and charities, was a wonderful baker and an avid reader. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching UConn Women’s basketball and vacationing at Cape Cod with family. Her family would like to thank Middlewoods of Newington for her wonderful care for many years. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the Rocky Hill United Methodist Church, 623 Old Main Street, Rocky Hill, CT. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the Rocky Hill United Methodist Church or your favorite charity.
