Anna Christine Holm

It is with sorrow that we announce the passing of Anna Christine (Backlund) Holm on October 14, 2025.

Her family called her Chris; her friends called her Anna. She shared a wonderful life and was married for almost 39 years to her forever love, Arne Holm. In her youth, Anna became a member of The Order of the Rainbow for Girls, and she followed a family tradition of service within the Masonic Organization.

Her world revolved around her VFW/MOCA affiliations. She joined the VFW Auxiliary when she was 16 years old. Her parents were committed members, so it made sense to her. Also, her oldest brother, John, was a Vietnam Veteran. As a member of the Garner VFW Post and MOCA (Cooties), Anna served as the local VFW Auxiliary President, Secretary and Treasurer. She held positions at the District level and was recently installed as the Department of North Carolina Auxiliary President. Her positions within MOCA were Grand Auxiliary President and Grand Hospital Chairman.

Anna was not only a hard worker, but she also had a crazy sense of humor. She could make a joke out of anything – even her illnesses. After suffering for years from misdiagnoses, in her early 20's she was finally diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. It changed her life.

Her Wizard of Oz obsession is widely known. She had a room full of her collections and memorabilia from gifts she received and conventions she attended.

She is survived by her brother Thomas (Sandra); her sister, Donna; brothers-in-law: William (Jeri) and Edward Holm; ten loving nieces and nephews; and nineteen great-nieces and nephews.

Anna is preceded in death by her parents: John and Arlene Backlund; her beloved husband, Arne Holm; her brothers: John and James Backlund; brother-in-law, Erik Holm.

A Celebration of Anna Christine's life will be held on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at L. Harold Poole Funeral Service Chapel, 944 Old Knight Road, Knightdale, NC.
