Anna May Hunsucker, 86, of Richmond, Kentucky, previously Aurora, Missouri, passed away peacefully Friday, December 6, 2024.
Anna May was born September 15, 1938, to Samuel and Ernestine (Kimberlin) Block in rural Sarcoxie, Missouri. She lived in Aurora, Missouri, for 40 years before relocating to Richmond, Kentucky, for the past eight years. She was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School then worked for KTTS Radio and TV in Springfield, Missouri, for eight years before taking some time off to have her children. She went back to work for nine years at Southwest Manufacturing Company in Aurora, Missouri. In 1986, she began to work for the City of Aurora, as the City Collector until her retirement in 2005. She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church in Aurora. Anna May enjoyed watching all sports including Kansas City Chiefs' football, Kentucky Wildcats' Basketball and most of all, St. Louis Cardinals' baseball.
On June 16, 1957, Anna May married Max Everett Hunsucker of Sarcoxie, Missouri. They were married for 43 years and lived in Aurora for most of their life together. Max preceded Anna May in death on December 4, 2000. She is survived by her two sons, Mark (Valerie) Hunsucker of Berea, Kentucky, and Marty (Kara) Hunsucker of Columbia, Illinois, and her three grandchildren, Holly Hunsucker (Berea KY), and Grace and Jack Hunsucker (Columbia IL), three step grandchildren, Amber Combs (Shane), Joel Azbill (Brianna) and Jacob Azbill (Devin) and seven step great-grandchildren, Brayden, Raelynn, Addisyn, Kinsley, Simon, Marlee and Colton of Berea Kentucky.
Also, preceding Anna May in death were her parents, Samuel, and Ernestine Block; two sisters, Betty Joe Heck and Billie Jean Miller, two brothers, Robert Block and Samuel E Block; four brothers-in-law, Hershel Heck, Jim Miller, Bob Barnes, and Darel Oberbeck.
Anna May is survived by one brother, Charles Leroy (Bobbie) Block of Reeds, Missouri, three sisters, Mary Jane Barnes of Springfield, Missouri, Louise Oberbeck of Marshfield, Missouri, and Roberta (Richard) Lewis of Paola, Kansas and several wonderful nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Crafton-Cantrell Funeral Home in Aurora, with a funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at the Maple Park Cemetery in Aurora, Missouri.
