Anna Hunter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edgerton Burial Association and Colonial Funeral Chapel from Sep. 19 to Sep. 20, 2025.
Anna Marie Hunter was born on January 18, 1928, to Arthur and Mary (Brink) Broekhuis in Pipestone County, Minnesota. She attended Edgerton Christian Grade School through 8th grade, then went to Southwest Christian High School for 9th and 10th grade.

Anna Marie married Duane Hunter on March 13, 1947, in Rock Rapids, Iowa. Following their marriage, they made their home on Duane's family homestead and were blessed with three children. Anna Marie did a lot of wallpapering, painting and cleaning for people. She enjoyed embroidering on dish towels, bowling, and taking care of her grandchildren. Anna Marie remained on the family homestead until December of 2010, when the farm was sold to their grandson Jesse and Traci Hunter. Duane and Anna Marie bought a house in Edgerton. After Duane's death, Anna Marie moved into Assisted Living for 3 years and then into Edgebrook Care Center, where she lived until her death on September 19, 2025.

Anna Marie was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Edgerton where she sang in the choir for several years and enjoyed going to Ladies Aid. Her life was being a Christian wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, and a great-great-grandma.

She enjoyed spending time with her family. She looked forward to the Broekhuis family reunions at Lake Okoboji Bible Camp for several years, and the Hunter family reunion every year in Spicer, MN.

Anna Marie is lovingly remembered by her daughters, Linda (Joe) Garthright of Lawton, Iowa, Sue Prins of Edgerton, daughter-in-law Charla Hunter of Bisbee, Arizona, 10 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Duane, son, Jeff, grandson, Todd Garthright, great-granddaughter, Sailor Prins, and son-in-law Allen Prins.
