Anna Jeffries Obituary
Published by Legacy on Nov. 5, 2025.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Anna "Ann" Frances (nee Lyness) Jeffries, who departed this world on June 22, 2025, at the remarkable age of 101. Ann lived a life rich in love, community, and purpose, leaving behind a legacy that will inspire generations to come.
Born on March 27, 1924, in Logan to her beloved parents, Harry and Mary Belle (Clark) Lyness, Ann graduated from Bright High School in 1942. Shortly after, she married her devoted husband, Leroy William "Jeff" Jeffries, on Christmas Day of the same year. Though Ann briefly worked at Schenley Distillery, her true passion blossomed as she embraced the role of a full-time mother to her daughter, Bev. As Bev began her schooling, Ann's spirit of service flourished, leading her to become an integral part of the community she cherished so deeply.
Ann's commitment to helping others was unwavering. As a long-time Logan Township Trustee, she dedicated herself to the betterment of her neighbors and friends, whom she treated like family. In the 1970s, recognizing the growing need for assistance, she founded the Food and Clothing Home Mission, now known as the North Dearborn Food Pantry. Her devotion didn't go unnoticed; she was honored as Grand Marshall of the Bright Community Parade in 1997, nominated for the Heart of Gold award, and recognized as a Lady of Distinction in 2006. Ann also had the distinct honor to carry the torch in the Indiana Bicentennial Torch Relay, showcasing her profound connection to her community.
Despite her impressive contributions to society, Ann's heart was always anchored in her family. She took immense pride in her yard, tending to it until the age of 98, relishing in the beauty of her flowers and garden. Her family-daughter Bev and son-in-law Mike Cornelius; grandson Brad and his wife Suzanne; and cherished great-grandchildren: Bradley, Emily, Anna, and Sophie-were her greatest joy. Ann also leaves behind her dear sister, Janet (Howard) Eckler, and many loving nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Ann will be celebrated and remembered for her vibrant spirit, unwavering dedication, and the boundless love she shared with all.
