Anna Loegering Obituary

Anna Mae Loegering, 89, of Jackson, Michigan, and formerly of Lee's Summit, Missouri; Fargo, North Dakota; and Oakes, North Dakota, died Thursday, October 23, 2025, surrounded by family at her home in Jackson after a long battle with dementia.
Anna was born on May 20, 1936, the daughter of Stephen Claudius and Rose Barbara (Deutsch) Bauer in Eden, South Dakota.
She was raised in rural Oakes, North Dakota, and graduated from Oakes High School. Anna attended the State Normal and Industrial School in Ellendale, North Dakota, where she met Donald Loegering. They married on June 4, 1955, and together raised eight children: Rose Mary Schuessler (Chuck), Joseph Loegering, Joanna Balamut (Russ), Mary Ellen Schuessler (Larry), Donna Hill (Tim), David Loegering (Paula), James Loegering (Sue), and Robert "Bob" Loegering.
Throughout her life, Anna was an avid bowler, participating in leagues in both Lee's Summit, Missouri, and Jackson, Michigan.
She was especially proud of her 277 game at Summit Lanes in Vandercook Lake, MI. Anna also found joy in holding babies, gardening both vegetables and flowers, crocheting, sewing, and solving puzzles. She was a talented and resourceful homemaker and helped run the farm alongside her husband, often crafting clothes for her daughters and creating handmade gifts for loved ones. Her creativity was matched by her devotion to her Catholic faith, which she lovingly passed on to her children. She faced health challenges with strength and grace, having survived colon cancer and Lynch disease earlier in life.
Anna is survived by her younger brother, Steven Bauer (Arlene) of Sun City, Arizona, and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Loegering; sons Joseph Loegering and Bob Loegering; and siblings Leonard John Bauer (Marge), Katherine Rose Bauer, Edmund John Bauer (Frances), Matthew Carl Bauer (Jackie), Susanna Elizabeth Olah (Jim O'Keefe and Ted Olah), Angeline Marie Bauer, Marie Katherine Ryan (Norman), Theodore Michael Bauer (Marge), Evelyn Ann Swetik (Leonard), Elizabeth "Betty" Rose Marson (Frank) and Dorothy Elizabeth Schmit (Cy).
Visitation will be held prior to the funeral Mass at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, located at 711 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Jackson, MI 49201, on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, beginning at 2 PM. The funeral Mass and luncheon will follow at 3 PM. Following the funeral Mass, Anna's remains will be transported to Lee's Summit Historical Cemetery in Missouri, where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Donald. A graveside service for family, friends, and colleagues will be held at the cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to support research for dementia, cancer, and Lynch syndrome. Suggested organizations include the ALZ.org, the Cancer.org, and FullLifeFoundationls.org.
