Anna Long Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Dewald Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. on Mar. 20, 2026.
Anna Marie Long, 61, of New Providence, passed away on March 19, 2026.

Anna was the kind of person whose smile filled a room before she ever said a word. She was full of warmth, kindness, and joy, and had one of those unforgettable smiles that made people feel instantly comfortable. To know Anna was to know someone who brought people together, made life feel a little steadier, and made home feel like the best place in the world.

Born on May 16, 1964, Anna was raised in Smyrna, Delaware before moving to New Providence, Pennsylvania, where she built a beautiful life with her husband, Steve, in the home they shared for 34 years. She attended Solanco High School and went on to build a career as a bookkeeper for several different companies. She was known as the "fixer," the person who could always be counted on to get things straightened out and keep everything in order, especially when tax season came around.

But Anna's greatest work in life was the life she built with and for her family. She was a devoted wife to Steve for 38 wonderful years and a deeply proud mother to her two sons, Jason and Josh. She never missed a sporting event, always cheering from the sidelines and supporting her boys in every way she could. She was also a wonderful mother-in-law to Annie Long and Jordann Long, and an adoring grandmother to Quinn, Archer, and Bowde.

Anna found joy in the simple and beautiful things in life. She loved taking her golden retrievers on walks around New Providence, taking day trips with her sons down to a Delaware beach bathhouse, and dipping her toes in the clear blue water of Captiva Island, FL or Boca Grande, FL. Some of her happiest memories were made traveling with Steve, from their honeymoon in Captiva to later trips to Boca Grande and sightseeing through New Hampshire and Vermont.

She was the kind of person who showed love in both big and small ways. She was an unbelievable cook who made sure her family always had home-cooked meals waiting for them. Anyone who knew Anna knew she made the best apple pie around and her secret chicken corn soup recipe. Her pie was so special that it even won at the Solanco fair, along with selling out her chicken corn soup at Solanco Baseball basket bingos.

Anna was truly the glue that held so many people together. Whether she was serving as Team Mom for different sports teams, helping with the PTO, working on the Post Prom Committee, or hosting family parties that brought everyone under one roof, she had a gift for creating connection, laughter, and memories that will last forever.

She is survived by her loving husband, Steve Long; her sons, Jason Long and his wife, Annie Long, and Josh Long and his wife, Jordann Long; her cherished grandchildren, Quinn, Archer and Bowde; her siblings, MaryAnn Slaughter, June Benzor, April Smith, Patricia Lapinski, Sheri Yohe, and Robert Snyder; and her stepmother Brenda Huddle. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary Sue Daniels and Joseph Huddle.

Anna will be remembered for her infectious smile, her loving heart, her strength, and the way she made the people around her feel cared for, welcomed, and loved. She was the heart of her family, and her absence will be felt deeply by all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to attend Anna's Memorial Service on Saturday, April 11th at 11:00 AM at Wesley Church, 1104 Kirkwood Pike, Quarryville, PA 17566, with a visitation from 10 AM until the time of the service.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Dewald Funeral and Cremation Service of Quarryville.
