Anna Florine "Flo" Owens

FOUNTAIN CITY, Ind. – Anna Florine "Flo" Owens, of Fountain City, Indiana, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2023, with her children by her side.
Flo was born June 19, 1936, in Mount Sterling, Kentucky to Maude Donavan, and at 14 years old she and her family moved to Richmond, Indiana. Her first job was at Jennings Restaurant where she made many fond memories, the best of which was meeting her husband, Ernest Owens. Flo and Ernest married in 1955 and they shared 54 wonderful years together until his passing in 2009.
After her children were grown, Flo began working at Target where many would recognize her as the first face to greet you as you walked in, standing behind the service desk or jewelry counter. Her grandchildren loved visiting her at Target, especially because they knew that Flo's job at Target allowed her to throw a Christmas extravaganza every year! If there was one thing Flo knew how to do extremely well, it was hunt for a deal; so she would collect gifts year-round from Target, hiding them in a (not so) secret room in her home until the big day. No one left Christmas at Grandma's disappointed! She retired from Target in 1998.
Flo was also known as a talented seamstress and incredible baker. She made beautiful dresses, quilted blankets, and costumes for plays and Halloween. And everyone always counted on her to bring her delicious blueberry cheesecake or chocolate pie to holiday parties.
Flo was a member of St. Paul Church of the Nazarene where she was involved with everything from Vacation Bible School to the Sunday School Board. It was there she made many lifelong friends who became like family.
Flo is survived by her four children, Ernest Kim (Mary) Owens, Kathy Lynn (Randall) Sadler, Lisa Kay (Matthew) Tarini, and Jill Renee (Jeff) Smith. She is also survived by grandchildren, Kristy, Jessica, Jeremy, Tyler, Stephen, Keith, Jamie, Sarah, and Quentin; several great grandchildren; brother Richard; and sisters, Reda and Charlene.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ernest; her mother; and her brother Jimmie, who passed in childhood.
Flo had a devotion to her family and a firm belief in the Lord, and this consoled her as she was called home.
Visitation for Anna Florine "Flo" Owens will be from11:00 to 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at LifeSpring Church South, 501 South 7th Street, Richmond. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday, August 16, 2023, at LifeSpring Church South. Burial will be in Elkhorn Cemetery.
