Anna Peters

Anna Peters, passed away on Sunday, July 23, 2023, two days after her 100th birthday, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Mom had a rich and full life. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed. She was an inspiration to all who knew her.
Anna was born on July 21, 1923, in Torbágy, Hungary, a daughter of Frank and Theresa (Gundert) Czipri. She married William V. Peters on July 8, 1947 in Peoria Heights, IL. She was a war bride who made her dress from parachute silk. He preceded her in death on April 16, 1984.
Anna is survived by five children: Mary Ann (Gilles) Lonteen of Rolling Meadows, Bill Peters of Peoria, Mike (Ellen) Peters of Brimfield, Theresa (Mike) Hamilton of Mapleton, and Mark Peters of Peoria, five grandchildren: Nicole (Andy) Anaya, Chris (Jenn) Lonteen, Denise (Tom) Barbini, Colleen (Larry) Cleer, Jr, and Dave Hamilton, as well as eleven great-grandchildren: Isabelle, Zoe, Dylan, Chlóe, Leo, Dominic, Anthony, Brendan, Mykenzie, Ruby and Ethan.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, granddaughter, Cheryl Hamilton and sister, Maria (Edward) Heger.
Anna was a 70 year member of St. Mark Catholic Church in Peoria. Her faith was very important to her and it got her through many challenges. She worked in the cafeteria at the grade school. She volunteered with the Senior Citizens Club, Bell Choir and Stunt Shows at the school. She was a member of the Peoria Area Stitchers Guild and received numerous awards. She volunteered for many years at the OSF Gift Shop. Anna's favorite pastime was being with her family. She loved gardening, traveling, embroidery, sewing and socializing with her many neighbors over 70 years in the Uplands.
Family would like to thank all those who helped with the care of our beloved Mom.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at St. Mark Catholic Church. Memorial mass will be at the church on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 10:30 AM, with a one hour prior visitation. Msgr. Brian Brownsey will officiate. Entombment of Cremains will follow at Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.
Memorials may be made to St. Mark Church, Easter Seals, Central Illinois Autism Association or Shriner's Hospitals for Children.
