He was preceded in death by his wife, mother and father, mother and father-in-law, one sister, one brother and one nephew.

Max served in the Army for six years. He worked at Caterpillar Inc. for 35 years, retiring in 2006.

He spent summers in the backyard hanging out with family and friends at the pool. He and Nancy liked entertaining guests, hosting big parties on the 4th of July and Halloween. In the early 90s, he purchased a 1957 Chevy and spent his free time fixing it up. Max rooted for the Cardinals during baseball season and the Bears for football. He enjoyed skiing in the winter, earning the nickname "Mad Max" on the slopes. He was also an avid bowler. After retirement, he spent his days with his beloved dog Trixie. Later in life, he did a lot of traveling together with Nancy, Maxine and Bill Thomas or Pat and Bill Bulfer.

Max was a member of St. Mark Catholic Church, the Spalding Council # 427, Knights of Columbus Spalding Council 3rd Degree, Spalding Assembly #206 4th degree and the Order of Alhambra. He also volunteered for the Lion's Club.
