Anna Rompala

WAPPINGERS FALLS – Anna M. Rompala, 89, an area resident since 1964, died peacefully at home on December 20, 2022 surrounded by her family. She previously lived in Clark Summit, PA.
Born on April 2, 1933 in Tunkhannock, PA, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Anna Tomolonis. On October 9, 1954 in Tunkhannock, PA, she married Lewis J. Rompala who predeceased her in 2018 after 64 years of marriage.
Anna was an avid reader of romance books. Along with her husband, she visited many of our National Parks and Battlefields, and enjoyed traveling internationally. They also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, and helped Jimmy Carter build 30 homes on an Indian Reservation in a week in Eagle Butte, South Dakota. Anna also enjoyed dancing the Polka and gardening, and was a member of the Marist Red Fox Club. More than anything, she will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
Anna is survived by her children, Lewis J. Rompala and wife Lisa of Spicewood, TX, Walter J. Rompala of Hopewell Junction, Frank Rompala of Fishkill, and Susan Piro of Wappingers Falls; her grandchildren, Shannon, John and Rachel, Nicholas, Alex, Amanda, and Jeremy; her sister, Ruth Herring of Tunkhannock, PA; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 23rd at 2pm at the McHoul Funeral Home, Inc., 895 Route 82, Hopewell Junction. Entombment will be on Thursday, December 29th at 1 pm at Fishkill Rural Cemetery.
