Our beloved mother, Anna Mae Utley Rosa was born February 16, 1924 near Greenville, Iowa to Clyde and Eliza (Richardson) Utley. Anna was a country girl and had many adventures with her siblings. She attended several area schools before graduating from Albertson, IA. High School in 1941. After graduation Anna worked at Bishops Cafeteria in Des Moines, IA. One of her fondest memories while in Des Moines was attending a Frank Sinatra concert. Anna then relocated to Chicago, IL. And was employed at Bendix Corporation, a defense plant, during World War II. Anna loved to dance and attended many dances at Chicago’s big band ballrooms.

On October 19th 1946 Anna and Earl Rosa were united in marriage. Mom was blessed with a wonderful extended Rosa family whom she loved dearly. They lived and worked in the Spencer, IA. Area. The traded their car for a lot to build their family home on, where all their children grew up.

Anna was a hard worker in the food industry for many years. She was an excellent cook and was known for her delicious steaks, potato salad, spaghetti and homemade Christmas goodies and pickles she made in crocks. Anna loved being a homemaker.

She loved to travel and it was family knowledge that if the car door was open, she was jumping in. If you didn’t know how to get where you were going, she had no problem telling you where to go. Anna made many lifelong friends in card clubs, bowling leagues and eventually heart re-hab. Anna always did the daily crossword puzzles, loved playing scrabble. Her joy was found in family and her friends. She always saw the “good” in everyone in her life. Many family members and friends called mom by her childhood nickname “Tootsie”.

Anna Mae passed way at her home, St Luke Nursing Home, in Spencer, IA. On December 3rd at the age of 99.She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Earl, all of her siblings, sisters June, Francis, Lola, Lois, Arlene, Goldie and her brothers Roy and Ray.
