Anna Shope Obituary

Anna K. Shope, known also as Pete or Pee Wee, age 89, arrived at her eternal home on January 15, 2026.
She resided at Harmony of Hershey and passed away in the care of PennState Hershey Medical Center. A graduate of Susquehanna High School, she was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
She was a secretary for the Colonial Park Baptist Church and served in a variety of roles with Contact Harrisburg, including President of the Board and was its long serving Secretary. Later in life she was Activity Director for the Ecumenical Community. In recent years Anna was an active volunteer for The Bunny People and Operation Christmas Child. Her life was marked by love and generosity which she shared freely with strangers, friends and family alike. Anna cited her family as the thing she was most proud of. She lavished on them a fantastic childhood, giving her love and her time unselfishly and without measure.
Anna was the daughter of the late Raymond N. and Carrie A. Young. Her siblings Raymond N. Young Jr. (Nancy), Richard A. Young (Patricia) and Donald L. Young (Laura) survive her. She is also survived by her children, Wm. Joseph Killinger (Julia), Laurie A. Berry (David), Steven W. Killinger, Dale R. Killinger (Rhea). She leaves 7 grandchildren Doranna and Victoria Killinger, Joshua Berry (Zaira), Cassandra Rusbatch (Justin), Tristan Berry (Jamie), Nicole and Benjamin Killinger (Karleigh); 5 great-grandchildren survive her Adora Stevenson, Elliot Rusbatch, Grace Berry, Bella Hughes (Tay'Qujuan) and Dominick Delgado.
Anna was sadly predeceased by her infant brother, Charles, her loving husband, Thomas R. Shope, her daughter in law, Gloria Killinger and her precious grandson, Thomas B Phillips IV.
A celebration of life will be held on February 10, 2026 at St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4200 Londonderry Rd., Harrisburg, PA 17109. There will be a visitation from 10 a.m., with service beginning at 11 a.m. Interment will follow the service at Fort Indiantown Gap.
Arrangements by Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home.

Anna was a very special person in my life. I wish to extend my many condolences to all of her family, my prayers and warm thought to you all..
She was good and great friend to my Mother and Father (Gail &Dick Long.) She always remembered my birthday when I joined the U.S.Army and I looked forward to cards and letters from her for many years after my parents died.
May God bless and keep you Anna...........

I volunteered with Anna. She was a very wonderful, compassionate, loving woman. I always enjoyed my time spent with her. I´m saddened to hear of her passing but know she is now with Tom.
