Anna Viskup Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by William H. Kresge Funeral Home, Inc. on Sep. 30, 2022.
Anna Viskup, 89, of Allentown, formerly of Effort, PA, and Elmhurst, NY, passed away Thursday, September 29 in Cedarbrook Nursing Home, Allentown.
She was the loving wife of the late William A. Viskup. They celebrated 62 wonderful years of marriage together before his passing in 2016.
Born in Vrbovce, Slovakia, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Anna Hornak.
Anna was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Effort.
When she was 16, she moved from Slovakia to New York City, where she began working at a young age. She ended up meeting her husband William during her time in the city, and they lived for many years in Elmhurst NY, before eventually moving to Effort, PA in 1995. Anna loved to paint and crochet, and she made beautiful Christmas ornaments that her family enjoyed. She was an exceptional cook and always made delicious Slovak recipes. She also loved attending her garden, taking care of her favorite flowers, African violets, and enjoying the fragrance of Lily of the valley. Most of all, she was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.
She is survived by a son, William T. Viskup of College Point, NY; two daughters, Viera Engstrom-Pertz and her husband Jeffrey of Saylorsburg, Elizabeth Panik of Clifton, NJ; four grandchildren, Jessica and her husband Vincent, Jennifer and her husband Charles, William, Kristina; and three great grandchildren, Olivia, Declan, and Aubrey.
A viewing will be held on Tuesday, October 4 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM from the Kresge Funeral Home, 1763 Route 209, Brodheadsville. Funeral services will follow at 12:00 PM with Rev. Manuel Stivers and Rev. Michael Misina officiating. Cremation will follow in H.G. Smith Crematory, Stroudsburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. Box 96011 Washington, DC 20090.
