Anna Willcutt Obituary
Ann was born on Dec. 29, 1926, in Worthington, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Myrtle (Deierling) Roberts. Ann grew up in rural Queen City, graduating in 1944 from the Queen City High School. She became a rural schoolteacher at the age of 17 on an emergency certificate after taking teacher exams. It was at the time when available young men to teach were involved in World War II. On Oct. 11, 1946, Ann married J. Bruce Sloop. They became the parents of Robert and David Sloop. Bruce passed away on Dec. 22, 1957. In 1959, Ann and her boys moved to Keokuk. In 1962, she married E. Merrill Willcutt, when she became the stepmother of Gaylord and Eugene Willcutt and on Nov. 9, 1963, the mother of Brian Willcutt.
Ann was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State University in 1956 and again in 1963, receiving a Masters Degree. She graduated from Southeastern Community College with an Associates Degree in Nursing. In 1974, she received a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Iowa Wesleyan College. Ann was a Staff Nurse at Keokuk Area Hospital and a Nursing Instructor at Southeastern Community College. She was also a Sunday School teacher at Trinity United Methodist Church in Keokuk for many years.
Ann was preceded in death by her husbands, her parents, her sister Alta and her son David. She is survived by two sons: Robert (Lynne) of Kennesaw, Georgia, and Brian Willcutt of Keokuk; her stepsons Gaylord (Sarah) Willcutt and Eugene (Janet) Willcutt, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 21, 2026, at DeJong-Printy Funeral Home in Keokuk, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Garden in Keokuk. Visitation from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Trinity United Methodist Church.
