Annamarie Oppegard Obituary

Annamarie Oppegard, age 96, passed away November 16, 2023 in Peoria, Arizona. Annamarie was born on August 9, 1927, on the family farm located in Bald Hill Township, Griggs County, North Dakota, to parents J. Walter and Adah (Skofstad) Watne. She graduated from Valley City High School in 1945 and earned a BA in University Studies from Valley City State University in 1990.
Annamarie married Howard Oppegard on August 8, 1948. Annamarie is survived by 4 children: Ardelle (Dale) Lefor, Peoria, AZ; Dave (Anne) Oppegard, Sioux Falls, SD; Michael (Barb) Oppegard, Beach, ND; and Brady (Michelle) Oppegard, Mandan, ND; 10 grandchildren: Mark Oppegard, Scott Oppegard, Danielle Lefor, Shawn Lefor, Mitchell Lefor, Amber Nickerson, Nathan Oppegard, RaeLynn Davison, Joseph Oppegard, and Alyssa Oppegard; bonus daughter Vicki Christos; and bonus granddaughter Jessica Vanderheyden. Annamarie was preceded in death by her parents and son Jerome "Jerry" Oppegard.
During her life, Annamarie lived in Minot, ND, Mandan, ND and Valley City, ND. While in Minot she was active in all facets of Bethany Lutheran Church. In Mandan, she worked at Liberty Heights (Morton County Housing Corporation), First Lutheran Church, and co-owned a craft store in downtown Mandan. Her community involvement included membership in Circle and Quilting at First Lutheran Church and the Auxiliary for Medcenter Care Center/Sanford Health Living Center.
