Anne Abernethy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Services on May 27, 2025.
SPRING HOPE – Anne P. Abernethy, age 78, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2025. Born in Nash County, NC on February 25, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Ray Abernethy and Margaret Anne Smith Abernethy. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Earl Abernethy.
Anne dedicated many years to her cherished church family at Oak Level Baptist Church. Her joyful voice was a familiar and uplifting presence in the church choir, where she found great happiness in praising God through song. Her love for music was a gift she eagerly shared, and her melodies will echo in the hearts of those who knew her. Beyond the choir loft, Anne had a special place in her heart for the younger members of the congregation. She generously volunteered her time and talents in the children's ministry, nurturing young faith and creating a welcoming space for countless children over the years. Her gentle spirit and kind heart left a lasting impression on all the lives she touched. Above all, Anne cherished her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and, of course, song. She instilled in her family the values of faith, kindness, and the importance of togetherness. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her.
Anne is survived by her daughter, Carol Anne Green (Demetrius); sons, Christopher Thomas Peele, and Brian Peele; grandchildren, Ashley Hernandez (Ramon), Devin Peele (Taylor), Dustin Peele, Kaitlyn Peele (Dustin Thorne), Makayla Peele, Sirr Sharpe, Dillan Sharpe; great-grandchildren, Ivan Hernandez, Arivia Thorne, Alaiyah Peele, Dean Peele, Gracie Peele, Brayden Sharpe; and special friends, Canova Baker, and Marcia Edwards.
