Anne Benitz Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Memorial Chapel on Dec. 8, 2025.
Anne Benitz (nee Carolus), 97, passed away November 25, 2025 at Villa St. Benedict, Lisle IL.
Anne was born May 5, 1928 in St. Joseph, Missouri to the late Marie and Gerald Carolus. She was the second of five daughters, three preceded her in death. Anne graduated from Duchesne College in Omaha, Nebraska with a B.A. degree in English. She enjoyed a career as an executive secretary at Trans World Airlines (TWA) in Kansas City after graduation. She often told stories of flying in the cockpit jump seat. After marrying Harold Benitz, in 1955, she moved to Milwaukee and became an executive secretary at Gimbels store headquarters.
For many years, she enjoyed singing in the Felix Chorale. This chorale sung at several Catholic churches and held memorable concerts at St. John's Cathedral in downtown Milwaukee. The close group of friends attended concerts, operas, and lakefront summer festivals together. Anne had an interest in math and technology. She held an amateur radio license and completed the ground school exam to become a private pilot. She enjoyed playing difficult Sudoku puzzles well into her 90s.
After Harold's death in 2007, Anne moved to Lisle, IL to be near her daughter's family. She enjoyed being involved in her grandchildren's lives. She is survived by her two children, Gerald (Amy) Benitz and Ellen (John) Gilleran, 6 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild. She was memorable "Aunt Tannie" to many nieces and nephews.
Anne will be buried at Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS, with her husband, a WWII Veteran. The family will hold a private Mass to honor her memory.
