Jonathan Snyder Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by DuPage Cremations, Ltd. and Memorial Chapel on Feb. 12, 2026.
Jonathan Walter Snyder, age 78 of Wheaton, IL passed away on February 5, 2026, at his home in Wheaton, IL.

John was known for a remarkably diverse range of interests, talents and hobbies. An Eagle Scout and lifelong learner, he pursued an extraordinary range of hobbies. He was a glider pilot, a photographer, artist, and musician who played both the drums and the bagpipes. He built and collected model trains, RC planes and even rockets. He was an avid gardener with a deep love of nature and wildlife. A devoted conservationist, he donated several acres of land to the Wildlife Sanctuary in Keenesburg, CO in support of preserving wildlife and open space. Additionally, his love of aviation led his 18 year old grandson, Jakob, to earn his glider pilot license, an experience which led him to earn his private powered pilots license.

John battled chronic pain throughout his life, yet he never allowed it to prevent him from pursuing the interests he loved. His many interests and talents reflected a life well lived.

Jon is survived by his wife, Judy , his children Kelly (Stan) and Holly (Gene), grandchildren Jakob, Jet, Gavin, Elin, and Arlen and siblings Christina, Mary, and Charles.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Margaret Snyder, and his son, Jon.
