Patricia Anne Farley (Barry)

Patricia Anne Farley (née Barry), lovingly known as Anne, passed away on February 6, 2026. She was born on July 23, 1941, in Albany, New York, and lived a life defined by devotion to family, service to others, and a remarkable professional legacy.

Anne spent much of her childhood in Watertown, New York, after her family relocated to Watertown for her dad's job in 1948. She attended Holy Family Grade School and Immaculate Academy in Watertown graduating in 1959 before moving to Buffalo, New York, where she pursued her calling in nursing at D'Youville College, graduating in 1963. After earning her nursing degree, she began her career as a staff nurse with Erie County Public Health and St. Francis Hospital. During her early years she was a candy striper at Mercy Hospital in Watertown and always had her eye on being a nurse and working with patients on the medical/surgical units.

She met Bill Farley in Buffalo a few years after college in 1964 and married in Watertown in 1968, They welcomed 3 children in the first 4 years and lived in Buffalo near family in the St. Rose of Lima Parish. They both worked and enjoyed football games, socializing with family and childhood and college classmates and lifelong friends. They were busy in the community always helping others in whatever way they could with neighbors and schools. They were grateful to have family close by to help with the kids,

In 1978, Anne and her husband Bill moved with their family to Glen Ellyn, Illinois, following Bill's transfer to the Chicago area. Anne joined Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove as a staff nurse when the hospital first opened. Over the years, her leadership, expertise, and commitment to patient care led her into nursing management. She eventually created and led the Quality Assurance and Improvement Department, focusing on patient safety and quality of care, and later advanced to the corporate level to oversee quality assurance programs across the hospital system. She studied and received her Masters' Degree In Management and Organizational Behavior from Benedictine College in Lisle, IL.

Anne continued her impactful work at Christ Hospital in Oak Lawn, where she led the Quality Assurance department. Never one to slow down, she later co-founded a consulting firm, Epi-Q, with colleagues from Advocate, dedicating her expertise to clinical studies and healthcare improvement. She retired in 2015, closing a career marked by integrity, innovation, and compassion.

Family was always at the center of Anne's life. She balanced a demanding professional career with raising three children and supporting their many activities, schoolwork, and milestones. She was a devoted member of St. James the Apostle Parish, where she and Bill raised their children and supported their education at St. James and St. Francis College Prep in Wheaton, Illinois. After retirement, Anne continued to serve her parish by volunteering her time with administrative work and donation counting.

Anne was energetic and always on the move. She loved to travel, golf, and spend time with family and friends. Fiercely committed to her loved ones, she took immense pride in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Known for her warmth and outgoing nature, Anne never met a stranger-many people felt they already knew her family simply from having spoken with her. Her long, heartfelt goodbyes became a cherished family story, often leaving her husband Bill waiting patiently (sometimes impatiently) while she finished one last conversation.

Anne was preceded in death by her parents, Phillip and Mae Barry, and by her beloved husband of 46 years, William R. Farley.

She is survived by her sister, Ellen Downer; children: Kate (Doug), William J., and Kevin B. (Michelle); her grandchildren: Amy (Michael) Deegan, Robert Leahy, Megan (Dylan) Stump, Emma Farley, Sean Agee, Kevin P. Farley; and her great-grand children, Eleanor and Amelia. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and extended family members, friends who were touched by her kindness, generosity, and boundless energy.

Anne will be remembered for her dedication to healthcare, her unwavering love for her family, her faith, and her ability to make everyone she met feel known and valued.

Visitation will be held on Friday February 20, 2026 from 3-9pm at the Williams-Kampp Funeral Home, 430 East Roosevelt Road, Wheaton. Funeral Services to be held Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 11 am at St. James the Apostle Church, 480 South Park Blvd, Glen Ellyn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association (WDSRA) 116 N. Schmale Rd., Carol Stream, IL 60188.
