Anne Marie Dixon Barker Jaudon, left this world for a better one on Friday, February 7, 2025, at the age of eighty. Her final days were spent at home surrounded by those she loved most.
She was the widow of Henry Scudder Jaudon and daughter of the late William Lamar “Bill” Dixon and Mildred Estelle Nash Dixon. Anne Marie graduated from Elbert County High School and attended Georgia State College. She had a 38 year career in real estate: twenty years as an associate broker with Bond Realty and eighteen years as a mortgage loan officer at Pinnacle Bank.
Anne Marie enjoyed a full life. She loved to cook, play bridge, and read. She especially enjoyed her large music collection and dancing. She was a member of Saint Alban’s Episcopal Church where she had served on the vestry. Anne Marie was also a member of the Elberton Country Club, Elbert Elks Lodge, a bridge club, and Chapter 14 Book Club.
Besides her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her son, Jeffery Allen Barker; daughter-in-law, Tammi Smith Barker; and half siblings: Linda Lane, Myrtle Lokey, William Dixon, Joe Dixon, and Horace Dixon.
Anne Marie is survived her son, James Millard “Jimmy” Barker, III (Dawn); grandchildren: James Millard “Miles” Barker, IV (Taylor), Elizabeth Addison Barker Artman (Dylan), and Gage Strickland; great-granddaughter, Piper Rounds; step-daughter, Debbie Jaudon; step-grandchildren: Camden Michaud and Mayson Michaud; and half sister, Mary Ben Booker. She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and friends who were very special to her, including Laura Hagemann, Sylvia Gonzales, and Jerri Rucker.
The family is at the residence and will receive friends on Sunday, February 9, from 2:00-4:00p.m. at Berry Funeral Home.
Her funeral service will be held on Monday, February 10, at 11:00a.m. in the Memorial Chapel of Berry Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Romine officiating. Anne Marie never missed an opportunity to host an event; therefore, she requested a reception at her residence following the service, to which friends and family alike are invited.
Burial will be private at Fortsonia Cemetery where she will be laid to rest along with her mother, son, and sister Linda. Pallbearers will include KC Hagemann, Todd Strauss, Mike Strauss, Eric Dixon, Jarret McClain, Kevin Craft, and Anthony Bethea.
Flowers are accepted, and donations in Anne Marie’s memory may be made to T.J. & Friends, PO Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the charity of one’s choice.
In closing, a note from Anne Marie in celebration of her 80th birthday:
“80!!! What happened??? It seems like yesterday I was showin’ off at the shag club. Eighty years is a long journey, many heart breaks, but my life has been filled with joy and happiness. Thank you, dear friends, for your kind wishes and may God bless you as He has blessed me. You are all special to me.”
