Obituary published on Legacy.com by Teeters' Funeral Chapel (a.k.a. Teeters' East Chapel) from Oct. 24 to Oct. 25, 2025.
Anne M. Kreiter, 92, of
Hawley, PA, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2025. She was born on April 27, 1933, in
Hawley, PA, to the late Konstanty "C.K." and Anna (Hadupiak) Bomba.
After graduating from Hawley High School in 1951, Anne moved to Philadelphia to attend modeling school. While living there, she worked in a large department store and later for an engineering firm. After a year in Philadelphia, she returned to Hawley and attended beauty school in Scranton. She then worked at Marie Matzo's Beauty Salon until she married her husband, Jon, in 1956.
After raising five children, Anne worked at the Craft House gift shop in Hawley. In 1977, she and her husband, Jon, opened Heritage House Gifts in the historic Wayne County House, which she operated until around 1990.
After Jon's passing in 1978, Anne devoted herself to caring for her parents until their passing, while continuing to raise their five children and manage several family-owned businesses. It was an enormous undertaking, yet she faced it with strength, grace, and unwavering love. Her quiet determination and selflessness were a true reflection of her character.
Her final place of employment was with the Borough of Hawley, where she served as a secretary for several years.
In her free time, Anne most loved spending time with her family. Whether traveling to faraway destinations, enjoying day trips filled with sightseeing, shopping, and dining, or simply gathering at a family member's home, she cherished every moment together. She also loved games of all kinds, especially games of chance, with scratch-off tickets, bingo, and slot machines among her favorites. Her collection of jigsaw puzzles is quite impressive and the Game Show Network was a constant on her TV, except when basketball was on. Anne was a huge fan of men's pro basketball and the Golden State Warriors were her favorite team to follow.
In addition to her parents, Anne was preceded in death by her husband, Jon Paul Kreiter; daughter, Constance Werner; companion, Frank Gustin; brothers, Joseph and William Bomba; and sister, Mary Sandlin.
She is survived by her son Karl Kreiter and wife Beverley; daughters Jean Micolucci and husband Joe, Kim Katzenback and husband Rich, and Pam Kreiter and companion John Rapp; grandchildren Philip Kreiter and wife Isabel, Calvin Kreiter and fiancée Ericka Quenzer, Kirsten Kreiter, Richie Katzenback, and Ericka Katzenback; and great-grandchildren Owen and Lola. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Alice Ryan and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Bethany Village Assisted Living and Wayne Memorial Hospice Services for the love and compassion they shared with Anne during her time in their care.
