Anne Marineau Obituary

Sister Anne (formerly Sister M. Marguerite) Marineau, 94, a Sister of Mercy for 74 years, died March 23, 2025 during the loving vigilance at the Mt. Carmel Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Manchester, New Hampshire. A native of Manchester, New Hampshire, she was one of eleven children of the late Donat and Emma (O'Malley) Marineau.

Sister Anne held a B.A. degree in education from Mount St. Mary College in Hooksett, New Hampshire. Her ministry as a Sister of Mercy was in education with teaching in elementary schools in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. For 54 years Sister Anne taught primary grades in New Hampshire at Blessed Sacrament School, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, St. Anthony School, and St. Joseph School all in Manchester, at Sacred Heart School and St. Christopher School in Nashua, at St. Mary School in Claremont, at Trinity School in Somersworth, at St. Patrick School in Berlin, and at St. Joseph School in Keene. In Massachusetts, sister taught at St. Ann School in Gloucester.

After 54 years of teaching, Sister Anne went on to parish ministry at Blessed Sacrament Parish/Church, Manchester, New Hampshire. There she was able to share her love of cooking, sewing, and knitting with parishioners. She joined them in rooting for favorite football teams: the New England Patriots, Notre Dame and Boston Colleges, and favored basketball teams, the Connecticut Huskies and Notre Dame Girls.

Sister Anne was talented in many household skills and crafts that she generously shared to help make a convent/house a home and a parish a welcoming center.

Sister Anne is survived by members of her Mercy Community; her sisters Barbara Houde and Florence Roy

and predeceased by her good friend, Sister Joan Messier, by Charles, Gerald, George, Paul, Raymond, Donald, James and one sister Claire (Marineau) Houde.

My first grade teacher who told us "Boys and Girls President Kennedy is dead"
I had thought all the Sisters who taught me at St Joseph Grade School had already passed. Now I know they all have. May the road rise to meet you. RIP

I had the great pleasure of being the Visiting Angel to both Sister Ann and Sister Joan. She had a beautiful smile that would light up the room. She was filled with kindness and love. How blessed I was to have shared her company.
