Anne L. Neri (née Bruce), age 87, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2025.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and educator, Anne spent her life in service to others — through her family, her career, and her passions. She was born in Philadelphia Pennsylvania, She was a longtime resident of Glenolden, Pennsylvania, where she raised her six children and lived for over 41 years with her husband Michael J Neri. She spent her final days in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
Anne was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Michael John Neri, who passed away in 1999. Together, they built a life rooted in love, learning, and strong family values.
Anne dedicated her professional life to education, working as an educator at the Delaware County Literacy Council. There, she helped countless adults learn to read and write, giving them the tools to build better lives. Her compassion, patience, and belief in the power of education touched every student she encountered.
Outside of work, Anne was a longtime Master Gardener, known for her green thumb and love of nature. She also had a passion for travel, exploring new places with curiosity and joy. She is most known for her love of reading. She had an appetite for reading like no other. And she always had a book in her hand.
She is survived by her brother James Bruce; six children: Noreen Moore (John Moore), Ellen Neri (Jeffrey Ward), Anne Marie Russo (Nicholas Russo), Michael Neri (Annette Neri),Eileen Paris (Joseph Paris) and Robert Bruce Neri ( Kim Carr Neri); her 16 grandchildren, Matthew Weikel, Nicholas Russo, Anna Paris, Johnny Moore, Dennis Massari, Katharine Baylis, Gabrielle Mormino, Renae Zavala, Michael Neri III, Christina Stapleford, Robert Neri Jr, Zachary Paris, Gina Russo, Allie Neri, Liam Ward, Elaina Neri, and 12 great grandchildren — all of whom were her pride and joy.
Anne will be remembered for her deep love of family, her commitment to helping others, and the grace and warmth she shared with everyone she met.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Delaware County Literacy Council to honor Anne’s memory.
Funeral Mass will be held at Saints Simon and Jude on October 8, 2025, Visitation will be at 10:30 with mass at 11:30. 8 Cavanaugh Ct, West Chester, PA 19382. Interment at Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Springfield.
