Anne O'Brien Obituary

O'Brien, Anne
GLENVILLE - Anne (Borowy) O'Brien passed peacefully, on July 21, 2025.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Anne was fiercely proud of her roots, and often bonded instantly with anyone who shared that special borough connection. Born on October 25, 1946, she was the late-in-life daughter of two widowed immigrants who found love again. Her mother, Annie (O'Donnell) Clarke of Donegal, Ireland, and father, Joseph Daniel Borowy of Minsk, Russia, arrived in the U.S. through Ellis Island. Anne Teresa was raised as the cherished youngest sister in a resilient, blended family, and held a lifelong love and devotion to her many siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Kindness was the hallmark of Anne's character. She dedicated her life to nursing, driven by compassion and a desire to care for others. From emergency rooms to nursing homes, she touched countless lives with empathy and grace. For more than 15 years, Anne served as the Director of Nursing at Glendale Nursing Home, in Glenville, N.Y., where she led with strength and unwavering commitment.
Beyond her professional life, Anne, a Glenville resident for over 40 years, was a passionate and active volunteer who generously gave her time to numerous organizations. She treasured friendships, old and new, always making others feel valued and loved. Known for her handwritten note cards and warm, heartfelt texts, Anne kept close ties with family and friends alike.
Anne's family is deeply grateful for the kindness, love, and support shown to her by friends and loved ones throughout the years. This community of family and friends enriched her life, bringing her great comfort and joy. Her strength and kindness live on in her three children, Kristen, Erica, and Joseph; and her grandchildren, Jana, Jessica, Ronan, Jack, Miles and Madelyn, who carry her compassionate spirit in their hearts.
At Anne's request, there will be no formal public services. A private graveside ceremony will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend time intentionally with those you love, and support causes close to your heart.
Anne's family extends deep gratitude to her doctors, hospice caregivers, and the staff and volunteers, at the Joan Nicole Prince Home, for their care and compassion.
Arrangements are entrusted to Townley & Wheeler Funeral Home, 21 Midline Rd., Ballston Lake, and they encourage you to view and leave messages on Anne's Book of Memories, at www.TownleyWheelerFH.com

Anne O'Brien was a kind, warm, caring friend who always had time to listen and share a smile. She took responsibility for helping others, too. I remember back during the Covid epidemic when she called early one morning to make sure my husband and I knew where to get the newly developed and precious vaccine. She was also a lot of fun, and so interesting to talk to and know. Anne truly enriched our lives, and her passing leaves a huge void. My deepest condolences to her family. May she rest in peace.

Anne is my beautiful friend. She embodies the words, kind, loving, compassionate, empathetic, and so many more. Her family meant the world to her...children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews. When you were with Anne she made you feel like you were the most important person at that moment. She helped me through the loss of my husband and life´s constant ups and downs. Almost daily `Panera therapy sessions´ with our `Sip Sisters Club´ and Anne was one of our founding and most consistent members. My life was truly touched and made better by her friendship. She will always be in my heart.
