“Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother”
WATERBURY – Anne (Nanci) Walsh age 82: a cherished mother, grandmother, once great grandmother, and remarkable woman passed away in her home surrounded by family on Friday June 21, 2024. Nanci was the widow of beloved James F. Walsh, and predeceased by her two sons: James Brendon and William Rory Walsh.
Nanci was born Anne M. Doyle on July 8th, 1941, in Providence, Rhode Island, daughter of the late William and Anne Doyle. She was a ferocious reader and a unique historian with a keen intellect- who at many times was referred to as, “the encyclopedia”, by close friends and family. She had a great, witty sense of Irish humor. Nanci had several careers. However, she was most fulfilled at her final career as a master teacher of science at Bassick High School in Bridgeport, CT. For decades, she was passionate about teaching all things science and advocating for students- some of whom stayed in contact over the years. Remarkable in many ways she was a mother, educator, humanitarian, and a lover of art and culture. Her legacy of love and compassion guides all of us.
Left to honor her legacy and hold dear her memory are children; John C. Walsh, Christopher R. Walsh, Jessica A. Walsh, Jamie N. Walsh and her grandchildren; Rory J. Sanchez, Bella E. Sanchez, Brendan J. Walsh- Crawley, Daniel Walsh, Molly Walsh, Abby Walsh, Daisy Walsh, Skylar Walsh and Hannah Walsh; as well as, her beloved cat, Salem. Nanci is also survived by her brother and sister-in –law, Tony and June Doyle of MA, nephews, nieces, and cousin Kay Elkins.
