Michael J. Nardoia
It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that the family of Michael Joseph Nardoia, age 95, of Waterbury, announces his peaceful passing on March 17th, 2026, in the blessed comfort of his home, surrounded by the love of his family. He was the widower of Mrs. Frances (Pettinicchi) Nardoia.
Michael was born on March 27, 1930, in Oakville, CT, and was the son of the late Francesco and Irene (Padula) Nardoia. He was a proud graduate of Watertown High School, where he built lifelong friendships and cherished memories. Michael proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and served active duty during the Korean Conflict. He spent over 40 years working for CT Light and Power in the Yankee Gas division, where he thoroughly enjoyed serving their customers and creating many great friendships. Throughout his life, he found joy in card games, where he relished both the competition and camaraderie they fostered. Michael's storytelling ability brought laughter and lessons to all who gathered around him. Family gatherings were the highlight of his life, where he created a nurturing environment for his loved ones. Michael was a master of creating unforgettable moments with his family, ensuring that every moment together was filled with light, laughter, and a good story. Michael's passion for traveling enriched his experiences, allowing him to explore new horizons and create memories that will be treasured for generations. While Michael and Frances did not have any children of their own, their nieces and nephews enjoyed their many years of loving devotion together, as only a loving, close family was meant to be.
Michael's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jega and his staff, especially Kerri, Accent Care Hospice, and Heaven's Hands Homecare for the kindness and support that they shared with Michael and his family during his illness.
Left to cherish his memory and carry on his legacy, Michael is survived by his sister, Catherine DeFloria of Tolland; his sister-in-law, Grace Ducharme of Waterbury; and his nieces and nephews: Diana Norris, Judith DeFloria, Lauri Sylvestro, Deborah Calabrese, Marie Nelson, John Moreau, Carol Hei, Judy DiGiovanna, Cynthia Litin, Christine Ruey, Denise Foley, and Catherine Ducharme.
